Planning approvals for new homes crash to 14-year low
Planning approvals for new homes have plunged to their lowest quarterly level since 2012.
Just 45,315 homes secured permission in England during the second quarter of 2026, down 21% on the previous three months.
Home Builders Federation figures show permissions over the 12 months to June fell 8% to 214,515 homes, 36% below the 2017 peak.
