On the run building boss jailed for site death

A construction director has been jailed for eight years and 10 months after pleading guilty to gross negligence manslaughter following the death of a labourer.
Peter Clifford was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court this week following the fatality in Woodbridge in 2020.
Clifford went on the run for three months after failing to appear at an initial hearing in 2024.His company Hintonwood East Anglia Ltd also admitted health and safety charges.
