Manchester job ‘explosion’ caused by blocked concrete pump

A worker has been injured following what was initially reported to emergency services as an explosion at a Manchester high-rise construction project.
Emergency services were called to developer Salboy’s Viadux Tower project in Albert Street early on Tuesday morning.
The report prompted a full emergency response although it was later confirmed by Salboy that there was no explosion and the incident had been caused by a blocked concrete pipe.
