Housing starts slump by a third to just 30,000 in first quarter

Housing starts across the UK slumped 34% to just 29,820 in the first quarter of the year underlining the scale of challenge the Government faces in hitting its 300,000 homes annual target.
The number of new dwellings completed in the first quarter of 2024 was down 17% year on year to 38,400 units.
