Battle starts for places in £8bn national roads upkeep shake-up

Britain’s biggest highways contractors are gearing up for a fight over seven regional contracts as National Highways resets its approach to strategic roads upkeep.
An invitation to tender for spots on the long-awited £8bn Maintenance and Response 2 framework will go out next month paving the way for a major overhaul of how England’s 4,500-mile strategic road network is maintained.
