Rhode Partners builds Austin's tallest skyscraper
Texas architecture firm Rhode Partners has built a 58-storey residential skyscraper in Austin, Texas, from irregularly stacked blocks that cantilever at different levels.
Called The Independent, at 688 feet (212 metres) the high-rise is several feet taller than The Austonian, a 56-storey residential tower that completed in the Texan capital in 2010.
The tower resembles stacked Jenga blocks
The amenity deck at the 34thfloor cantilevers out 30 feet (nine metres) and has wrap-around glazing.
