Lever Architecture designs "Maine's next great landmark" for art museum expansion

American studio Lever Architecture has revealed its proposal for the Portland Museum of Art campus expansion in Maine, with a design that aims to honour the state's culture and history through symbolism and mass timber.
The project will add 60,000 square feet (5,574 square metres) to the museum campus and will be used as a gallery and public space, facilitating between 300,000 and 500,000 yearly visitors.
