Sports Direct snaps up French Connection stake

Sports Direct has been identified as the mystery buyer of Schroders’ stake in embattled fashion chain French Connection. A slice of the retailer came up for grabs after Schroders, French Connection’s second-largest shareholder, dumped its entire stake in the struggling business. A stock market filing today showed Sports Direct purchased an 11% stake in the company through a contract for difference.
