Ringgit opens lower against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR:The ringgit extended last week’s losses to open lower against the US dollar on Monday after investors turned to thesafe-haven yen due to the big sell-off on Wall Street.
At 9.20am, the local unit was lower at 4.4060/4130 from 4.3965/3035 against the US dollar on Friday.
The ringgit was traded mostly lower against other emerging currencies.It traded lower against the Singapore dollar at 3.0604/0669 from 3.0483/0544 on Friday and eased against the yen to 3.7575/7644 from 3.7458
