The Old City of Hebron, one of the oldest cities in the world, has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With a history that stretches back to the chalcolithic period, or 3,000 years BC, Hebron is holy to Jews, Muslims and Christians and is the largest city in the West Bank, with more than 200,000 Palestinians and a few hundred Israeli settlers.
