Gold down as stock market recovery curbs investor interest

By Clara Denina LONDON (Reuters) - Gold edged down on Tuesday partly in response to gains in global stock markets which reduced the appeal of the precious metal, often perceived as a refuge from riskier assets. Spot gold fell 0.3 percent to $1,270.31 per ounce by 1006 GMT, while U.S. gold futures were down 0.2 percent at $1,272.00. "There is a little of profit-taking in gold because the shares market is higher," Societe Generale analyst Robin Bhar said.
