Futures lower ahead of economic data

Robert Kaplan, president of the Dallas Federal Reserve, warned that a raft of global risks such as the Brexit vote could affect the United States and reiterated his stand for a gradual rise in interest rates. Wall Street closed lower on Monday as a drop in oil prices dragged down energy stocks. A report on consumer spending is likely to show that consumption rose 0.3 percent in June, compared with a 0.4 percent rise in May. The data is due at 8:30 a.m. ET (1230 GMT).
