Surging bank shares have helped the FTSE 100 (NasdaqGS: Z - news) rally by more than 100 points in the latest session as markets turned strongly higher following recent volatility. London's leading share index closed 2.5% up as it scrambled back above the 6,000-mark, led by a 14% rise from state-backed Lloyds Banking Group (Other OTC: LLDTF - news) .
