Man convicted of killing lawmaker’s 2 sisters gets life term

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A judge has imposed a life sentence on a Pittsburgh man convicted of killing two of his next-door neighbors, the sisters of an Iowa state lawmaker.
Jurors had told the Allegheny County judge they were deadlocked on whether to impose the death penalty against 45-year-old Allen Wade. The judge told the jury Thursday to formalize their deadlocked status in writing.
In Pennsylvania, a jury must unanimously recommend a death penalty or a life sentence is automatically imposed.
