Obama bids to reverse automatic spending cuts

US President Barack Obama will on Thursday unveil plans to reverse automatic cuts in military and other spending, as he rolls out budget proposals for the coming year. Automatic cuts -- the so-called sequester -- began entering into effect in 2013 after Democrats and Republicans were unable to reach a deal on cutting the deficit.
