Trump vows harsh response to Iranian vessels that harass U.S. Navy

(Reuters) - U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump vowed on Friday that any Iranian vessels that harass the U.S. Navy in the Gulf would be "shot out of the water" if he is elected on Nov. 8. A U.S. Navy coastal patrol ship changed course after an Iranian fast-attack craft came within 100 yards (91 meters) of it on Sunday. Trump has based his foreign policy beliefs on keeping the United States out of what he called "endless wars" in the Middle East.
