MoviePass was down for hours, ruining everyone's Friday night

Frustrated moviegoers let out a collective scream Friday night when MoviePass stopped working. 
As customers from across the country tried to purchase tickets, they were left confused as the popular app that lets you pay a monthly subscription fee was down for several hours. The company announced on Twitter that it was aware of the issue around 7:45 p.m. ET — after social media users had complained prior —  and asked moviegoers to buy tickets at full price from the theater
