NBC’s production of the 2016 Summer Olympics was broadly panned by media critics, but what problems did the average viewer have with the network;s biennial sports showcase? To find out, The Verge made a Freedom of Information Act request to the FCC for complaintsrelated to the two-week event. The grievances, 18 of which were shared in the FCC’s response, fall into three buckets: inadequate closed captioning, discrimination of non-cable subscribers, and what else, sexual indecency.
