Bald eagle Shadow’s friend KD1 gets a new name

Say hello to Kaydee. The young bald eagle spotted hanging out with Shadow in recent weeks has a new name.
Orange County Water District biologists originally called the eagle KD1 and banded her as part of their work to track the eagles born in California’s Prado Basin. Since being spotted on the Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV) cameras that follow the lives of the area’s bald eagles, she has been referred to as KD1.On Wednesday, FOBBV announced they would now refer to KD1 as Kaydee.
