Clem was born in Stratsburg, North Dakota, on Jan. 1942 to Frank and Margaret Ibach. He was from a family of five brothers and seven sisters. As a child, the family moved to Billings in 1945. In July 1959, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany.
