Betty Carter

Betty June Carter, 89, a resident of Fort Smith, formerly of Subiaco, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in Fort Smith. She was born June 13, 1926, in Ionia, Mich., to the late Benjamin and Ressie (Pence) Sutherland. After graduating from Paris High School in 1943, June worked in the defense industry during World War II. On Sept. 5, 1944, she married Joseph Wesley Carter Jr. and relocated to Subiaco. June worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Subiaco first as a postal clerk and then as postmast
