San Francisco Symphony defies classical-music stereotypes with SoundBox

Since the San Francisco Symphony unveiled a nightclub-style venue earlier this season -- with high-tech lighting and sound, video screens and several stages -- it has become San Francisco's hottest spot for classical music. SoundBox is part of the orchestra's effort to attract younger audiences, since the average attendee age is over 60 for its Davies Symphony Hall performances.
