U.S. Army Identifies Soldier, 18, Found Dead in Barracks - Second Death on Base in Recent Months

The Army has released the identity of an 18-year-old soldier who was found dead last week in the barracks at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina.
Private Danielle A. Shields was found unresponsive Oct. 7, according to WLTX in Columbia. Though Army staff performed emergency measures on her and she was taken to a hospital, she was later pronounced dead, the station reported Tuesday.
“This is a very hard time for all who knew Danielle and we continue to provide comfort to her teammates.
