Biden delays, but not cancels, student debt

Responding to calls from Democrats to cancel some or all of the $1.5 trillion in piled-up student debt, US President Joe Biden has announced the White House would extend the moratorium on repayments by another three months.In a statement on Wednesday, Biden claimed the US economic recovery was “one of the strongest ever,” but that “millions of student loan borrowers are still coping with the impacts of the pandemic and need some more time before resuming payments.”
