UN sanctions on North Korea

The United States announced on Monday that it will present a new UN sanctions resolution to punish North Korea for its sixth and most powerful nuclear test.The UN Security Council has imposed seven sets of sanctions on North Korea since it first tested an atomic device in 2006.The Security Council first imposed an arms embargo and a ban on a range of imports and exports to prevent North Korea from conducting nuclear tests or launching ballistic missiles in October 2006.
