Boeing, Embraer confirm merger talks ongoing; deal not guaranteed

US aerospace giant Boeing and Brazil's Embraer said Thursday they were in talks on a "potential combination" but cautioned there was no guarantee of a deal.The talks ignited shares of the Brazilian company, which makes commercial, military and executive jets, despite immediate signs of opposition to the transaction in Brazil.Any deal would need to be approved by the Brazilian government.
