Scout, NASA’s new asteroid-tracking system, just passed an important test

An asteroid that passed within 310,000 miles of Earth last night was discovered a few days ago by NASA’s new computer program, Scout, which sifts through telescope data to identify Near Earth Objects assess if they are a threat.
