US Q1 contraction not as bad as previously thought

The surprise contraction of the US economy in the first quarter of this year was not as bad as originally estimated, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday. Gross domestic product shrank at an annual rate of 0.2 percent in the period, much less than the 0.7 percent in the previous estimate.
