Global markets stabilize as likely ECB support offsets weak oil

By Sudip Kar-Gupta LONDON (Reuters) - Stocks markets stabilized on Wednesday as expectations of support from the European Central Bank offset a decline in the price of oil. Oil prices fell as worries after Kuwaiti workers ended a three-day strike that had halved the nation's crude output [O/R]. Global stock markets initially fell, but the FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares recovered to edge into positive territory.
