German factory orders rise in April
German industrial orders, a key measure of demand for goods in Europe's top economy, rose in April, the economy ministry said Wednesday, beating analysts' expectations. While domestic orders fell by 3.8 percent, export orders jumped by 5.5 percent, the ministry calculated. The economy ministry said that "despite the current weakness in domestic orders, the overall trend remains upwards.
