Asked about recession, Canada PM says June data shows rebound
Prime Minister Stephen Harper, speaking in the wake of data confirming Canada slid into recession in the first half of the year, said healthy growth in June showed the economy was back on track. Harper, campaigning ahead of an Oct. 19 election, said Canada had had a "couple of weak months" when he was asked about Statistics Canada figures which showed the economy had shrunk for the second consecutive quarter.
