US’ Jacobs extends role on Germany’s hydrogen-ready steel project

Jacobs has extended PMO, construction and assembly management work on thyssenkrupp Steel’s hydrogen-capable DRI plant in Duisburg.
The plant is moving towards first iron output and is expected to make about 2.5 million metric tonnes of DRI a year.
It will replace coal-fired blast furnaces with a hydrogen-based route, supporting climate-neutral steelmaking in Germany.
