Germany's BASF, IRRI extend rice sustainability collaboration

BASF Agricultural Solutions and IRRI have extended OPTIMA Rice, a collaboration launched in 2024 to cut methane and other greenhouse gases in rice cultivation.
The next phase will examine soil health, carbon and nitrogen dynamics, water-use changes and biochar.
Field-trial insights from the Philippines are intended to support major rice-growing markets worldwide.
