Drewry WCI surges 4% for 3rd week on higher Transpacific freight

Drewry's World Container Index rose 4.30 per cent to $4,526 per FEU in the week ending August 20, its third straight weekly increase.Transpacific spot rates from Shanghai to New York and Los Angeles rose 9 per cent to $9,507 and $6,802 per 40ft container.Asia-Europe rates slipped, while blank sailings, Panama Canal surcharges and port congestion keep capacity tight.
