Police officer acquitted of causing death by careless driving

A police officer has today (21 January) been acquitted of causing death by careless driving following a trial at Warwick Crown Court.

At around 7pm on 4 April 2012 traffic officer PC Vaughan Lowe was responding to reports of a stolen vehicle in his unmarked black BMW 330d when Xuan Wei Zhang, 24, stepped out onto Newtown Row in the Newtown area of Birmingham. His car had its lights and sirens activated.
