Birmingham man jailed after collision with pensioner

A Birmingham man has been jailed for three years for causing serious injury to an elderly man by dangerous driving in Sutton Coldfield last November.Gurpreet Sandhu of Church Lane, Handsworth, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing at Birmingham Crown Court, to the offence after he hit 91-year-old Horace Downes as he crossed Brassington Avenue to go and place a bet on the horses.
