A look back at policing in 2014 in numbers

In the same year as West Midlands Police’s dog breeding scheme saw the arrival of its first littler of Sprockers, the 10 millionth viewer tuned into the force’s YouTube channel and officers referred 108,026 people to the national charity Victim Support.

Just over 500,000 999 calls were received by the force’s emergency control room – including one from a woman complaining about a lack of ‘sprinkles’ on the 99 she’d bought from an ice-cream van!
