Oh come on, Piddington’s ‘independence’ to stop migrants is a national embarrassment

A GENERATION or so ago, the village of Piddington in Oxfordshire would have been prime Barbara Pym territory: a place of jam and Jerusalem, of flower arranging and village fetes, and a paternalistic do-gooding attitude towards those in need.
