Hindu statues will remain in their boxes after councillors decided that changes to a temple in Beeston shouldn't go ahead.
The plan for the temple frontage in West Crescent included pillars, four domes and five statues, including one of the goddess Durka and two six-foot tall welcoming girls. But Broxtowe Borough Council's planning committee rejected the idea - against the advice of officers - after the scheme was described as 'alienating'.
