Why did the toad cross the road?Because of the tireless efforts of a local wildlife campaigner.Beanford Lane in Oxton is closed to traffic every March so migrating toads can safely reach their breeding grounds.The common toads use an ancient migration route which takes them across the ford on Beanford Lane and before the year 2000, a large number of the amphibians got squashed by traffic.But thanks to the efforts of Margaret Cooper for the past 15 years, nature has been given a helping hand...
