A blaze at a block of flats which resulted in eight people and a dog being rescued is being scaled down. Firefighters had to make a "concerted attack" on fighting the flames in cavity walls at the three-storey Tithe Barn Court flats off Lovers Lane, in the North Gate area. The fire broke out at around 12.15pm and involved the ground, first, second and third floors of the building, which measures 40 metres by 12 metres.
