Tennis fans have been served up some disappointment after Nottingham City Council began charging to use local courts.It now costs £6 per hour per court, or £30 per household annually, to use the tennis courts at Vernon Park, in Old Basford, following a revamp. The once free-to-use courts have been locked and are accessed via a keypad on the gates, with players having to pre-book.The local authority also plans to introduce the charge at a similar facility nearby, at Valley Road, once.
