TomNorton published Devolution bill set to provide more power to local authorities

The blueprint for legislation that would give local governments more power to govern their own affairs is to be published today.Two days after it was announced in the Queen's Speech, the Cities and Local Government Devolution Bill would allow regions of the country to be governed by elected mayors. If made into law it would provide an opportunity for local authorities to have more control over areas like housing and transport.Already, areas like Greater Manchester have been given greater powers.
