County council gritters will be on standby this week to prepare for risk of ice.The authority's gritting teams will be put on a low-risk standby on October 1 which will move into a 24/7 standby from November 1. The county council has four full salt barns in Gamston, Markham Moor, Bilsthorpe and Newark, with the capacity to store 20,000 tonnes of salt across the area.
