Sainsbury's has reported a 0.4 per cent fall in sales, excluding fuel, for the 15 weeks to January 9, compared to the same period last year.Chief executive Mike Coupe said the supermarket giant had traded well over the festive period "in a highly competitive market".He said Sainsbury's had its best day for convenience sales on December 24, and in the week before Christmas more than 30 million customer transactions were made (up 2.6 per cent year-on-year).
