Waterloo Road's Phillip Martin Brown is the first cast member to be announced for Mansfield Palace Theatre's 2015 pantomime.
Brown plays the well-loved but irritable Grantly Budgen in the TV soap, its longest-running character, appearing in nine series.
He will star in Aladdin as the baddie in the theatre's annual panto, taking the role of the evil Abanazar, having enjoyed previous baddie roles as Jack and the Beanstalk's Fleshcreep and Captain Hook.
