Nottingham Post published Two lanes of M1 reopen but problems expected until 8pm

Motorists head south for Christmas face continued delays today after an accident closed the M1 for five hours. The motorway was closed between J18 for Rugby and J16 for Northampton following a multiple vehicle pile-up at 10am near Watford Gap services, where the Air Ambulance was called. Traffic was diverted off the M1 at J18 to rejoin it at J15A, and it was feared the motorway wouldn't open until as late as 6pm.
