When Stephen Schultz was lying prone on the stretcher he raised his thumb to the Nottingham Panthers fans, possibly in the belief it was the last time he would pull on their jersey. The winger was carried off by team-mates – and opponents Edinburgh Capitals – much like a fallen warrior after suffering what looked a season ending leg injury on October 28.
