Peter McPhail was stopped by police at the wheel of his wife's mobility car heading for the Queen's Medical Centre, where his son was receiving emergency treatment for a brain injury. After hearing of the family's medical problems, magistrates gave the 67-year-old an 18-month conditional discharge today. He pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance at Nottingham Magistrates.
