Nottinghamshire enjoyed a productive third morning as they reduced Somerset to 36 for four at lunch – a lead of 122.
The hosts resumed on 195 for eight and swiftly got the five runs needed for a batting point. They lost Jake Ball for nine with the score on 206 as he sliced Jim Allenby to Johann Myburgh at point.
Samit Patel was on 39 at that point but he progressed to 56 before holing out to James Hildreth at long off off the bowling of Craig Overton, who finished with four for 40.
